Hello Glow Whitening Plus Peel & Reveal – Review

I am all for organic chemical-free skin care products!

Whitening Plus Peel & Reveal
A transforming all natural peel to lift away damaged upper layers leaving a brighter, luminous complexion.

Pour a generous teaspoon full of powder onto wet hands, rub together to make a paste and apply on moistened face. Massage thoroughly until product is only slightly visible. Leave until dry (about 5 min). Then, over the sink, rub the skin until product starts flaking off. Rub off as much as possible and rinse the remainder with cool water. Pat dry.

My thoughts
If you’ve read my previous reviews on Hello Glow products, you would know that I've loved using Hello Glow Whitening Plus Facial Polish. Since this one is citrus based, I would not suggest using it frequently particularly if you have sensitive skin as it might sting/irritate a bit. I personally like using it once a week or twice a month.

The result is quite similar to Whitening Plus Facial Polish. It does a nice job sloughing off dead skin on my face. My skin feels baby soft and appears glowy. Because it’s an organic product, expecting a dramatic result – like perhaps lifting a tan in a single application – would be just silly. Natural skin care products take their own sweet time to perform. In case you’re wondering if it could whiten or turn you into snow white, it certainly would not. It’s simply going to remove the dull dead layer of your skin revealing the new one underneath. The only immediate result you get with it is a radiant and healthy-looking skin.

My only gripe so far is the packaging. The powder usually clumps together and the blocks the product from getting out. And when you try too hard, you only end up spilling lumps of extra product on your hand. This really frustrates me!

I guess some of you might freak out finding out how tiny it looks when you hold the bottle in your hand. But looks can be deceiving. The 50mg should last roughly four months if you use it once weekly.

I think it's nice but it still doesn't topple Whitening Plus Facial Polish for me. You're probably going to like this if you have combination/oily skin type.

You might like it if…
  • You have dull skin and expect a healthy glow
  • It sloughs away dead skin effectively
  • It lifts your tan off with regular use
  • You have a combination/oily skin.
You might not like it if…
  • You have dry/normal skin type
  • You have sensitive skin
  • It slightly stings upon application
  • You think the packaging is poorly made.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion – Review

Most of you must be familiar with microdermabrasion. To put it simply, it's a technique that uses tiny rough grains to slough away the outermost layer of the skin in order to improve the overall appearance. This at-home microdermabrasion boasts of making the complexion bright and improving your skin's texture. Read on to find if it worked for me.

Vitamin C Microdermabrasion
Fine exfoliating micro particles and crushed garnet stones remove dead skin cells to reveal a brighter, more radiant complexion.
  • Removes dead skin cells
  • Leaves skin feeling soft and smooth
  • Gives skin a brighter, more radiant look
  • Improves skin texture and tone
How to use?
Wet face and neck. Apply using circular motions and rinse off with clean water. Use once or twice a week.

My thoughts
I think it's an amazing product! I like it because it almost does everything it claims to. For a start, it comes in a convenient packaging – a flip top tube to be precise. The first thing I noticed was the scent which is very mild – smells like synthetic citrus – and doesn’t bother me at all.

The product has a slightly dense creamy consistency hence it’s easy to control the quantity you require to dispense from the tube. Also, you don’t need much; just a dime-sized amount is enough to do the job. Upon closer inspection, I found that it contains very fine grains that exfoliate my skin effectively.  Now I must mention that the grains could feel harsh if rubbed hard against the skin so I strongly suggest keeping a light hand. You only need to massage this in circular motions for under a minute or two and rinse it off. I personally like using it once or twice a month. In my opinion, don’t use it very often as it might cause skin irritation. Besides, if you have sensitive skin, this is not for you. Since my skin isn’t sensitive, I haven’t noticed any redness after its use.

Now to the results! Well, I have noticed that my skin feels smooth and super soft after using this. It gives a nice subtle glow to my face and my skin looks incredibly polished. What really amazes me is that it gets rid of superficial blackheads that I have on my nose. My pores look squeaky clean and it doesn’t dry out my skin or give me a tight sensation. I’ve got to admit, it does enhance the overall texture of my skin and make it appear more even-toned. On the downside, it does not brighten up my face like it claims to.

Overall, I am truly in love with it! I am definitely going to repurchase once I run out.

You might like it if…
  • It exfoliates your skin effectively
  • Your skin feels smooth and soft after using this
  • It makes your skin glow and appear polished
  • It helps get rid of superficial blackheads
  • It helps lighten blemishes
  • It doesn’t dry out skin
You might not like it if…
  • You expect it to brighten up your face
  • You have sensitive skin
  • You think it's too expensive for you

Freeman Bare Foot Peppermint + Plum Foot Scrub – Review

I'm sure you would all agree that feet are the most ignored part of your body; at least in my case it is. I've to confess, I don't look after my feet as much as I care for my skin but that's going to change now. Though I do take some time out for home remedies (gram flour especially) which greatly helps with getting dirt out but it is time consuming which is the reason why I bought this foot scrub to try.

Bare Foot Peppermint + Plum Foot Scrub
Let the power of Pumice buff away rough spots from heel to toe. Plum, Peppermint, and Tea Tree invigorate and renew tired feet. Perfect for use after a softening foot soak, and before moisturizing for superior softness.

Directions: Massage on feet with hand, loofah or pumice focusing on rough areas. Rinse well.

Size: 5.3 oz.

My thoughts
I don't think it's necessary that you get a foot scrub, you can use any scrub with good amount of granules for exfoliation like St Ives Invigorating Apricot Scrub which happens to feel much abrasive than this one if you’re not gentle. I was actually hoping this scrub would have more harsh exfoliants since it's designed to exfoliate skin on the feet but it doesn’t feel rough at all. Nonetheless, I can appreciate the difference it makes whenever I use it.

The packaging is quite eye-catching but the lid doesn’t close tightly; perhaps mine has a packaging defect. I don’t mind that because I’ve never noticed any product spilling out of the tube. Plus, you get good 150 ml of product for a great price tag which should last you easily for around two months if you use it on alternate days.

The scrub has a nice creamy consistency with tiny pumice granules. I do wish the grains were a bit more concentrated as that would’ve made it rather effective for smoothing of flaky skin but you can buff away any dryness with a loofah. To be honest, I don't consider it potent enough to slough off rough skin and calluses on its own - you definitely need a pumice stone brush for that matter. Or prepping your feet with Bare Foot Peppermint & Plum Foot Soak may provide better results.

I absolutely love the scent! It smells sweet but not in way that will give you a headache. I can’t put my finger on it but it’s something like bubble gum with a hint of mint. I find it very pleasant and it lingers for a while too. With this scrub, all it takes is a quick massage to get squeaky clean feet in no time at all. It rinses off easily and leaves my feet feeling light and happy.

Overall, I think it's a good basic foot scrub. However, it may disappoint you if you expect it to scrub away hardened calluses. It's only good to make your feet feel refreshed and clean.

You might like it if...
  • You expect it to be gentle on your skin
  • Your feet feel soft and clean with its use
  • The tube packaging is hygienic
  • You adore the sweet plum-y scent
  • You find it budget-friendly
You might not like it if...
  • The consistency seems thin for your liking
  • Pumice granules are sparse
  • You expect it to scrub away calluses
