My thoughts
Let me start off with the eye shadow palette which has some nice wearable colors. Most colors are neutrals which appear soft and natural against my complexion. You have got a mix of matte and frosh finishes with smooth, blendable texture and good pigmentation.

Then we have the powder blushes: Heavenly, For Cute!, Cheeky and Modesty. Again, like the eye shadows, they’re all packed with pigment and are soft to the touch. I am in love with Heavenly. It is such a lovely muted peach and I just love the way it flatters my skin tone – so beautiful! All blushes are matte and do not contain any sparkle whatsoever.

The collection also contains lip glosses and lip bases. I am not a lip gloss person however I like the fact that they’re super shiny. I would’ve liked it even better if they had good staying power. On the other hand, the lip bases are wonderful! They’re creamy and have a good staying power. The colors are so pretty on their own you don’t need to apply anything over it – I know I wouldn’t.

It’s a thumbs up from my side!

Fall Softly Eye Shadow Palette is priced at $39. The blushes cost $12 each. The lip glosses at $10 and the lip bases cost $12 each. For purchase, visit Sigma's website.

    My thoughts
The palette comes in a cardboard packaging and includes an array of colors which can be used for any time or occasion. In the beginning, I was quite thrilled but all my excitement went down the drain soon as I opened the palette. Firstly, it smells awful. For some odd reason, it reminds me of counterfeit/low quality makeup which sadly, sells in every nook and cranny of the city. I, for one, cannot stand the scent and neither will I advise doing so. Secondly, I feel that the quality of the eye shadows is not up to scratch.

If you look at the palette, you’d notice that it contains a blend of pearl and matte shadows. I’m not really pleased with the performance of the shadows to be honest. Most of the shadows are either a) chalky and unpigmented or b) too soft/powdery and have plenty of fall outs – a few shades in between are fine though. The blushes are nice with the exception of two shades that I found to be extremely non pigmented and hard to blend.

Overall, the palette did not meet my expectations. The pricing is outrageously steep. The celebrity makeup artist associated with the collection is no wonder a HUGE name in the industry and I respect him with all my heart however the product is a total washout in my opinion.

    You might like it if…
    • You are looking for a palette containing all the necessary shades
    • Some eye shadows and blushes have nice pigmentation
You might not like it if…
    • The strong unpleasant scent bothers you
    • Some shadows are chalky and hard to work with
    • Some shades are too soft and powdery
    • You think it's pricey

    My thoughts
Let’s talk about the palette first. The pigmentation and texture of the Smoke Screen palette is very similar to Warm Neutrals by Sigma. The matte shades are especially soft and blend-able. None of the shadows were chalky or difficult to work with however you might notice some fall out. On the whole, I am very happy with it. One thing that I would like to point out is that Sigma has improved its eye shadows incredibly. I think it’s safe to say that the quality is on a par with some of the best high-end eye shadows that I’ve tried to date.

The lip glosses from the collection are okay-ish. I love Eleven; it’s such a beautiful shade. The pigmentation is sheer and the formula is non-sticky. The shine isn’t long-lasting but that’s very much the case with almost all lip glosses out there.

I find the lip concealer quite interesting since I haven’t tried anything like it before. The texture is a cross between a lip balm and a creamy concealer. It covers my natural lip color and turns rather matte once it is set. It’s nice!

The eye liners from the collection are pretty average – didn’t catch anything outstanding. The colors are cool though. My only gripe with the pencils is that these aren’t totally smudge-proof. I have noticed that on a hot day, the color transfers on to the area slightly above the crease which looks bad. But yes, they’re creamy and pigmented so that makes them fun to use nonetheless.

I LOVE the blush that comes with the collection. Born To is a gorgeous color. On the website it is described as rose wine. It has tiny silver specks in it but that doesn’t make it very shimmery. I think it’s a universally flattering shade that will look good on any complexion. The texture is wonderful; soft and easy to blend. Love the pigmentation too. A big thumbs up from my side.

Overall, Born To Be Collection is worth checking out.

Sigma Beauty Born To Be Collection is priced at $99. It can be purchased directly from the website. To purchase products individually from this collection follow the link here. Sigma ships worldwide.

    Essence 3D Eyeshadow – Review & swatches

I love the presentation and the 3D look on Essence 3D Eyeshadow duos; I think it’s very eye-catching.

    3D Eyeshadow
Innovative and unique, the duo eyeshadow with a 3D look and a 3D effect has arrived! The 3mm-high relief design offers an ultimate 3D look and the ultra-light yet high-coverage formula creates a cool finish with a 3D effect - from satin to metallic to shimmering - upon application. Applied with a wet brush, the 3D duo eyeshadow guarantees even more intense results. Six duo eyeshadows, each with two perfectly aligned shades, create the highlight of the season for eye make-up in three dimensions!

Essence 3D Eyeshadow 07 Irresistible Smokey Eye

    My thoughts
Well for starters, the embossed designs make it look very tempting. I’ve got three duos: 04 Irresistible Caramel Cream, 02 Irresistible Purr-ple & 07 Irresistible Smokey Eye. All three of them have metallic finishes; some have shimmer in them too. The pigmentation is average; the lighter shades require more layering (Don’t even think of skipping an eye shadow primer!).

The texture varies from shade to shade. 04 Irresistible Caramel Cream and 07 Irresistible Smokey Eye have an incredible texture, feel silky to the touch and the colors blend together beautifully however the shimmery purple in 02 Irresistible Purr-ple feels gritty which is disappointing. You may come across some fall out with the darker shades especially with 07 Irresistible Smokey Eye.

The product says that it could be applied wet as well. Quite honestly, I haven’t had the chance to try them wet but I believe that it would certainly make a difference in the intensity. Overall, these are just run-of-the-mill for me.

    You might like it if…
    • You are looking for eye shadows that are easy on the pocket
    • The colors blend together beautifully
    • You use them with a wet brush

You might not like it if…
    • You feel the pigmentation is average and the lighter colors require more layering
    • You experience fall out with the darker shades
    • The shadows aren’t long-wearing hence need a primer
