Pond’s Age Miracle Cell ReGEN Day Cream – Review

It’s been a long time I know. I apologize for being MIA. Life has gotten pretty hectic if you ask me. The new workplace and studies along with it is consuming A LOT of my time. But I promise I am back this time. I will continue the blog and hopefully things will turn out fine. :)

Age Miracle Cell ReGEN Day Cream
If you have normal/dry skin, treat it to Pond’s Age Miracle Day Cream. Its Intelligent Pro Cell Complex works with your skin to reduce fine lines makes you look up to 10 years younger!

It contains SPF 15 & PA ++ which protects the skin from harmful effects of UVA & UVB rays.

With intelligent Pro-Cell Complex

Direction: Take a pea sized amount on your palm and apply on face in upward strokes from chin to cheeks. Apply on neck in upward strokes from base of neck to jawline.

My thoughts
The first thing you notice is the nice subtle scent which fades after application. The product itself comes in a nice heavy glass packaging – gives off that expensive look to it.

I gave it to my mom to try and she likes it so far. Of course it doesn’t magically fade fine lines and wrinkles; it’s just been a few weeks. She thinks that it has made her skin feel soft and smooth which really caught my attention so I decided to try on myself. When I put it on, it goes on silky and melts into my skin however it feels a bit heavy. I believe this is because it has SPF in it. It doesn’t moisturize the way I had expected, as in, I don’t see my dry patches disappearing or anything (Nothing beats TBS Vitamin E Night Cream in my case). Plus in my opinion, this product might not be suitable for anyone with an oily or acne-prone skin. Like I said earlier, it feels heavy on the skin so it might clog pores for that matter.

This product is most suitable for someone with dry/normal/combination skin type but in the summer season. Be mindful that it does not moisturize enough to protect from the cold. You might want to use another cream instead.
I am not sure how to rate this product. My mother seems to like it but she doesn’t feel excited about it. Maybe she’s being impatient with the results?!

The Body Shop Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream – Review

I got it on a whim a few months ago. It says it’s suitable for all skin types – I sort of disagree with that.

Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream
This rich night cream replenishes moisture levels while you sleep.

-- Intensively hydrates
-- Works when skin is at its most receptive
-- Leaves skin soft and smooth

The Body Shop Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream
The Body Shop Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream
My thoughts
Anyone living in Karachi would know that we get summers almost throughout the year. The winter months aren’t very cold. Moreover, it’s pretty much humid all the time. I have a combination skin type and my skin tussles between dry patches and an oily T-zone. My first impression about the product was that it’s a bit too heavier for my skin and I feared it might break me out as well. But then I figured out that if I apply too much, it’s definitely going to feel very sticky. So now, I just take a tiny amount of the product and massage on my face. Trust me, a little goes a long way in this case.

Soon after applying this, my skin feels baby soft and I love the mild scent it has. I like that it has a gel-like consistency and melts into my skin in no time. I don’t use it every night since like I said, it's heavier. I apply it every alternate night. I basically like rubbing it on my damp skin before I hit the sack. And no, It hasn’t broken me out yet.

If you have a dry skin type, you’re probably gonna love it. But if you live in a place that’s mostly hot and humid all year round and got a skin type like mine, I suggest passing up on this one and trying something else – perhaps another TBS cream that is specifically formulated for combination skin. Don’t get me wrong, I like this cream and what it does to my skin in the cooler months. Having said that, I would really like to try something that would work for me in warmer times of the year.

You might like it if…
  • You have a dry/normal skin type
  • Your skin struggles with dry patches
  • It makes your skin baby soft
  • You work tiny amount of product into your skin
You might not like it if…
  • You have a combination/oily skin type
  • You slather too much
  • You think it's pricey

RSL Acne Be Gone Acne Face Wash and Treatment Cream – Review

Treating acne requires a lot of patience. No single product will suit everyone which is why it’s important to try out and find what works best for you. Having tried this duo for over a month, it’s time I share my experience.

Acne Be Gone Acne Face Wash
Infused with a blend of Allantoin and Salicylic acid to effectively control outbreaks.

Rejuvenate the skin with Alpha Hydroxy Acid to remove pollutants & unclog pores. Beta Hydroxy Acid penetrates deep into pores, removing dead skin cells and acne scars. Helps treat emerging acne and prevents blackheads. SLS and fragrance free.

How to Use
Moisten face with lukewarm water, apply a small amount and massage in a circular motion. Leave on for 3 minutes. Wash off with water and pat skin dry.

Acne Be Gone Treatment Cream

Acne Be Gone Night Treatment Cream treats emerging acne & prevents blackheads.

Infused with Alpha Hydroxy Acid and Beta Hydroxy Acid to hydrate, penetrate and repair the skin from acne. For best results use twice daily after Acne Be Gone Acne Face Wash.

How to Use
After Acne Be Gone Face Wash, apply all over face or acne-prone areas at night. Massage in circular motions. Avoid eye area.

RSL Acne Be Gone Acne Face Wash
RSL Acne Be Gone Acne Treatment Cream
My thoughts
The first key active ingredient is Salicylic Acid which is an antibacterial agent that also aids in purifying clogged pores. The second on the list is Allantoin which helps soothe and counteract any irritation. I am certain that both these products are suitable for sensitive skin type since I’ve never had any reaction or stinging with them.  I’ve used this duo every other night as part of my night time skin-care routine and I can say it definitely curbs any emerging zit on my face.

Starting with the face wash, it is color-less, has a gel like consistency but is not odor-less. The scent is sort of medicinal but pretty mild so it doesn’t stick around. I use this on my already cleansed face, massage and leave it on for over two minutes. As I said before, there is no stinging, no tight feeling or dryness whatsoever. I follow by using the Treatment Cream on the pimples and blackheads which by the way isn't scent-free either as claimed. It has the same mild medicinal scent that does bother me sometimes. The cream visibly helps with reducing the bulge and redness associated with the newly born zit and I wake up to flattened spots with every use. As for the blackheads, it takes time for them to clear out but it surely does that too.

Since I only have occasional breakouts, I can’t say how it would perform for someone who has severe acne and quite frankly, I don’t consider the ingredients potent enough for that matter. If you breakout occasionally and want a pocket-friendly on-the-spot treatment, this is worth checking out.

You might like it if...
  • You use this duo for occasional breakouts
  • It doesn't dry out the skin
  • It doesn't cause any stinging
  • There is no bad scent
  • It helps clear out blackheads
  • It holds back the growth pimples
  • It's easy on the pocket
You might not like it if...
  • You have got severe acne
  • You don't use it persistently
  • The scent bothers you

Irish Rain Revitalising Facial Oil – Review

Since the product claims to be very hydrating, I let my mum try it for a month. It turns out that she really enjoys using it as a night moisturizer. Of course I had to give it a shot myself to understand what she really meant.

Revitalising facial oil 30 ml
An effective blend of potent essential oils and natural plant extracts to restore vitality to dull skin, smooth your skin’s appearance and enhance radiance, for a healthy, glowing complexion.

Rosehip oil is a dry oil that sinks easily into the skin without leaving a greasy sheen. The oil works on a cellular level to rejuvenate skin. Rich in vitamin C, high in omega 3 & 6 essential fatty acids known to heal scar tissue.

These amazing benefits have the added effects of essential oils Sandalwood:calming & soothing, Cardamon:antibacterial & healing & Lavender: to promote cell growth.

Irish Rain Revitalising Facial Oil
My thoughts
For starters, it smells wonderful (probably because of the Lavender in it) and I love that it comes with a dropper. I like to apply two-three drops of the product on my face. Yes, just three drops and trust me, the 30ml product will last you ages!

On my combination skin, it does feel slightly greasy however my mum thinks it doesn’t in fact she says it provides just the right amount of hydration for her skin. I asked her if she noticed any difference in her skin’s texture. She says her skin no longer looks dull anymore. She loves how it rejuvenates her skin by making it smooth, fresh and glowy. Also, she was suffering from some skin irritation before she began using it. It really soothed her skin and the irritation was gone for good. Since it’s been just a month, I cannot really say if it healed any scars or spots – it’s au naturel and products like that require time to make a real difference.

Overall, mommy likes it! If you have dry/normal or mature skin, you definitely need to check this out. I personally do not like using oils on my face because no matter how light or non greasy it is, my skin tends to break out so it’s a no-no for combination/oily skin.

You might like it if…
  • You have dry/normal or mature skin
  • You think it makes your skin smooth and glowy
  • It smells lovely
  • It soothes your skin
You might not like it if…
  • You have combination/oily skin
  • Your skin is prone to breakouts

Zakia’s Morocco 100% Pure Organic Argan Oil – Review

There’s been plenty of hype about Argan oil in the recent years. This is my first pure Argan oil experience. Keep reading to find out more!

100% Pure Organic Argan Oil
Zakia’s Morocco offers you the best Moroccan Argan Oil, the beauty secret of Moroccan women for centuries. Argan oil is recognized as a fundamental element in cosmetic care and is now a favorite of the beauty industry. Zakia’s Morocco has the best Argan Oil for skin, hair and nails. Chosen specially from favored suppliers directly in the Agadir region, our Argan oil is 100% pure, organic and free from all chemicals and minerals. You will find no chemical additives silicon or parabens in our formulas. It is beneficial for all skin types.

No PEG, no mineral oil, no silicon, no Parabens! 50 ml / 1.69 fl.oz

Zakia’s Morocco 100% Pure Organic Argan Oil
My thoughts
Zakia’s Morocco offers 100% pure Argan Oil for a much affordable price tag if you compare it to others available on the market. It's been described as a light-weight hydrating oil that moisturizes the skin with it's high content of Vit E, essential fatty acids and protect against fine lines and wrinkles with its antioxidant properties. It also claims to add shine to the hair and strengthen dry/brittle nails.

While Argan oil may be a miracle worker for some, it does have one noticeable drawback – it causes me to break out. I thought perhaps it was something else but whenever I resumed applying it on my face, I could see tiny bumps emerging in a day or two. I googled and found that Argan oil is rich in oleic acid which is comedogenic. Those with small pores (dry/normal skin types) don’t let much of it to sink in and hence rarely develop comedones (blocked pores). Since I have a combination skin, I consider myself as one of the unlucky few because it truly moisturizes the skin deeply leaving it soft, plump and hydrated with the very first use. Just two to three drops go a long way.

Speaking of the scent, it’s kind of a mild nutty aroma with some hints of spice. I find it quite refreshing. Upon application, it doesn’t soak into the skin immediately but it doesn’t feel heavy either – provided that you don’t go overboard (don’t even think about that). There's no denying that gently massaging this oil at night feels very soothing. Moreover, it would sure ease any flakiness on your skin in the colder months.

I personally enjoy using it the most on my hands. It feels ultra light and imparts a subtle glow. It makes my hands feel smooth and soft throughout the day but it doesn't replace my regular hand cream if I need extra moisture especially in winter. I haven’t noticed any major difference in my nails except that they appear healthier every time I use it. Had there been a pump, it would’ve been easier to dispense the required amount and re-apply when needed; the oil spills easily if you aren't careful so the bottle isn't very travel-friendly in my opinion. I have also given it a trial on my hair and it does what it promises. It makes my tresses shiny and less frizzy though it can weigh your hair down if used too much.

Overall, this oil is most suitable for aging/dry/normal skin type and for those who want an all natural nourishing treat for the skin. If you've got sensitive or acne-prone skin, this is not for you.

You might like it if…
  • You have aging/dry/normal skin type
  • You’re looking for a natural moisturizer
  • You use it to tame dry/frizzy hair
  • You use it sparingly (2-3 drops)
  • It makes your skin feel soft and plump
  • You find it affordable
  • You enjoy the mild nutty spicy aroma
  • You use it on your body/nails/cuticles
  • It’s 100% natural skin care product
You might not like it…
  • It clogs pores and causes breakouts
  • You wish the packaging came with a pump
  • You apply too much and it feels heavy
My rating
3.5/5

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter
My thoughts
The temperature’s dropping everyday and my skin proves it. I hate that dry, flaky feeling that I get in the colder times of the year. I love my TBS Shea Body Butter and after reading rave reviews on this one, I couldn’t stop myself from having it. I am glad I got it.

It comes in a huge 300ml jar and I absolutely love the retro style packaging. The first thing you notice is the scent – Oh! It’s such a divine combination of fruits and flowers. I am no fan of sweet scents but THIS, my friends, is the right kinda sweet for me. It’s a fresh, flirty and youthful scent that lifts up my spirits. A word of warning though; the scent isn’t mild as a matter fact, its strong enough to clash with your perfume. The sillage is soft and the longevity is merely average which is quite a let-down.

The butter is thick and creamy-white in color but it’s not as thick as TBS Shea Body Butter. It feels slightly sticky upon application but after a few seconds, it sinks into my pores without leaving a greasy feeling behind. My skin feels soft and moisturized all day. I totally enjoy applying this on my legs, hands and feet after a warm shower. I am definitely going to repurchase whenever I run out.

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter is clearly a winner in my books.

You might like it if…
  • You expect it to keep your skin moisturized all day without fail
  • You enjoy the fresh, fruity floral scent it has
You might not like it if…
  • The scent bothers you
My rating
4.5/5

Essence Pure Skin Anti-Spot Moisturizer – Review

Having a combination skin, I always have a hard time picking up a moisturizer that would agree with my skin.

Pure Skin Anti-Spot Moisturizer
The moisturizing cream improves the appearance of your skin: it alleviates visible redness, calms the skin and has a mattifying effect. Its perfectly aligned ingredients battle spots and blackheads and prevent the appearance of new ones at the same time! ideal day and night care for a fresh complexion.

My thoughts
Essence Pure Skin Anti-Spot Moisturizer comes in a 75ml tube; enough to last you a month or two. It has a mild medicinal scent similar to the Toner & Powder from the same range. The consistency of the product is thin, much like a lotion, and absorbs within seconds which is exactly what I look for in a moisturizer. I love that it feels light without feeling sticky/greasy something I cannot stand whatsoever.

The product claims to fight zits and blackheads. It contains witch hazel and Zinc pca which fights acne, reduces inflammation and swelling. From what I have gathered, it does help fight occasional zits but if you’ve got serious acne, I don’t think this would work. Since I do not have blackheads, I am not sure if this would fight those too. Also, I disagree with its claim of keeping skin matte, it doesn't really.

The reason why I like it so much is the fact that it keeps the dry areas on my face hydrated and the oily parts balanced so that my skin is not overflowing with sebum. If your skin requires heavy-duty hydration, this product is going to disappoint you because it’s a light moisturizer most fitting for combination/oily skin. Overall, I like using this in my daily routine.

You might like it if…
  • You have combination/oily skin
  • You are looking for a light everyday moisturizer
  • You expect it to fight zits (mild acne)
  • You absolutely hate that greasy feeling some moisturizers leave behind
  • It absorbs quickly and feels light on the skin
You might not like it if…
  • You expect it to fight serious acne
  • The scent puts you off
  • You have dry/normal skin
  • You expect heavy-duty hydration
  • You expect it to mattify your skin

Sally Hansen Ultimate Shield Hand Cream – Review

Ultimate Shield Hand Cream claims to offer glove-like defense for severely dry hands. Does it live up to that? Read more to find out!

Ultimate Shield Hand Cream
This Hand Cream makes hands feel noticeably softer and smoother. It forms a defensive shield that lasts through hand washing. Contains Cationic Conditioning Technology with Natural Moisturization Factor to help prevent moisture loss. Non-greasy.

Benefits:
  • 24 hour moisture
  • Glove like defense for severely dry hands
  • Instantly hands feel noticeably softer and smoother
  • Forms defensive shield that lasts through washing
  • Contains Cationic Conditioning Technology with Natural Moisturization Factor to help prevent moisture loss
  • Non-greasy
Application Tips: Apply daily. Re-apply as needed.
Sally Hansen Ultimate Shield Hand Cream
My thoughts
I get dry skin issues in the winter months but doing dishes particularly in this season takes its toll on my hands so a hand cream is a must-have for me to battle dry flaky skin. Now that summer is here, my hands don’t feel dry so I prefer lotions or light moisturizers just to keep them hydrated. This product promises to shield severely dry hands by providing a glove like defense so if you’re someone who has chapped hands all year round or who has to wash hands frequently all day, this product might just be a life saver! Since I got to try in summer, I can’t judge how well it would perform in harsh winter but it does seem to retain moisture even after I wash my hands which tells that it really works.

The cream doesn’t have a thick consistency but isn’t fluid-y like a lotion either; it’s somewhat in between. When applied, you can instantly detect a refreshing citrusy scent that lingers for a while. Since it’s an intensive moisture treatment, it takes a couple of minutes to sink into the skin but it doesn’t absorb completely. I can see that it forms some sort of an invisible layer that gives a nice glow to my hands. I do think it can leave your hands feeling greasy and slippery if you apply too much of it so use just a pea-sized amount. As previously mentioned, it seems to hold up well to hand washing so it doesn’t need to be reapplied very often which is a good point. It keeps my hands soft, smooth and moisturized for a long time. I’m also pleased with the packaging; I like how neat and vibrant it looks. It comes in a flip-cap tube which makes it convenient to control the amount dispensed plus it’s hygienic as well.

All in all, this product seems to be a treat for dry winter-weary hands. Owing to the intense moisture it provides, I can safely say that it will comfort your scaly hands in no time. I’d definitely continue using it in winter.

You might like it if…
  • You have very dry chapped hands
  • You use it in winter
  • You expect a light-weight feel
  • You expect it to hold up well to hand washing
  • You're happy with the packaging
You might not like it if…
  • It feels heavy in summer/you use too much and it feels greasy
  • You aren't fond of citrus scent
My rating
4.5/5
