Milani Liquif'Eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil in Black – Review & swatches

For long, I have been a dedicated fan to DMGM Crayon Kohl eyeliner pencil until I found this.

Liquif'Eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil in Black
Milani's best-selling eyeliner goes on like a liquid liner with a breakthrough formula. The creamy-smooth application delivers a nice color payoff that lasts. With the Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eyeliner Pencil, there’s no need to sacrifice easy application to achieve a bold, liquid look. The color of Milani Eyeliner Pencil glides on easily and stays in place for smudge-proof, 24-hour wear. This smudge-proof eyeliner pencil is also paraben free.

My thoughts
Before I start off, I must mention that Liquif’Eye has launched with a new name called “Liquid Eye”. I haven’t tried the latter but according to the blogosphere, both are similar.

Alright so Liquif’Eye is nothing but love! Its über pigmented and glides across my eyes like butter without tugging or pulling. I noticed that with this, I only need a single swipe and that too applies in a second. Like the name implies, it really applies like liquid; you have to have a steady hand so that you don’t mess up. But once it sets, it doesn’t smudge, fade and lasts all day. I tried it on my waterline to see if it stays but sadly, it irritates my eyes that way and makes them teary and my nose runny. Also, it doesn’t last long on the water-line (due to the teary eyes) which is a bummer.

Overall, I absolutely love this eyeliner for its extreme pigmentation and ease of use. It is also available in other shades to try.

You might like it if…
  • You are looking for rich black pencil eyeliner
  • It glides smoothly across your eyes without tugging or pulling
  • It doesn’t budge once its set and lasts all day
  • You expect easy one-swipe eyeliner application
You might not like it if…
  • It irritates your waterline and fades quickly

Bourjois Intuitive Liner – Review & swatches

This product takes me back to my under-grad drawing classes. I remember studying pointillism and creating drawings simply by dotting on the canvas. With Intuitive Liner, you follow the same technique to line your eyes giving your lashes some definition.

    Intuitive Liner
3-end felt-tip lash enhancer to give your lashes extra length and definition. Discover a new, revolutionary way to line your eyes and enhance your lashes! Inspired by the famous art technique of ‘dotting’ (pointillisme), the intuitive liner forms a dotted, fine and intense line in 1 easy, fail proof application.

Special tip: Simply tap the triple-pointed liner along the lash line in a successive “dotting” motion. Each black dot will make your lashes look extra long and give them more definition!

No risk of overlapping or wobbly lines!

    My thoughts
For starters, the pigmentation isn’t as intense as I had hoped for. I imagined it to be as concentrated as Merle Norman Pro Pen Eyeliner so I am a bit disappointed. It’s not a one-swipe thing (or might I say a one-dot thing). I need to mark/layer multiple times for deep black dots. The triple-pointed tip is firm but flexible enough to avoid skipping and dragging thus allowing for smooth and precise application. I am pleased with the wear time, once set, it doesn’t fade, smudge or come off during the day.

I like the concept of dotting over my lash line and I noticed that it does define my lashes but no matter how much I try, the end result appears to be nothing but messy dots all over which is frustrating. This isn’t your regular marker eyeliner where you simply drag the tip across the lash line but that does not mean you can’t use it like that. For my part, I prefer standard solid line application over pointillism with this – it's much easier and neat that way.

You can achieve the no-liner effect with it but truthfully speaking, I’d rather tight line my eyes with a creamy pencil or gel eyeliner for thickening and defining my lashes; it’s as simple as that. So why pay for this? Honestly, I don’t see the point of purchasing it but if you’re a beginner with shaky hands, this could be your best friend.

If it were just a regular marker eye liner, I'd have given it more points but since I review products taking product description and claims into account so I am going to rate it in line with that.

    You might like it if…
    • You want to achieve a no-liner look
    • It adds volume and definition to your lashes
    • It has a decent wear time
    • You have shaky hands and expect precise application
    • You follow the regular solid line application
You might not like it if…
    • The pigmentation isn’t intense
    • You need to mark multiple times for intense black dots
    • You’d rather tight line instead of using this

Luscious Artist Ink Gel Eyeliner in Midnight Ink – Review & swatches

The first thing I look for in a gel eyeliner is ease of use. While this eyeliner may not be very application-friendly, it certainly delivers in terms of being truly a waterproof/smudge-proof product.

    Artist Ink Gel Eyeliner
An ultra smooth gel eyeliner with a deep, inky intensity that sets quickly to a waterproof finish for 24 hour wear.

Each shade comes with a FREE double-ended brush featuring a fine liner brush on one side and a soft liner brush on the other, to unleash the artist in you. Create a smoky effect or a sharp line for on-trend eyeliner looks.

    How to Apply:
Apply by dipping the desired side of the brush into the gel, making sure the brush is coated evenly. Apply in short quick strokes starting from the inner corner of the eye. Wipe the brush clean before storing.

    My thoughts
I am not entirely content with the product because for me, gel-based eyeliners are supposed to glide on effortlessly in a single stroke without having to tug or pull. This one however doesn’t quite hit the mark. The formula is hard to work with and lacks that creaminess of a gel eyeliner. In addition to that, I don't find it very pigmented on the first swipe. It requires multiple strokes for maximum intensity and while I do that, I see that the second coat rubs off the first which really puts me off. You won’t get a jet-black with this but it surely looks deep enough after application.

When I first applied it, I noticed that it set very quickly as it claims to and once it set, it didn't budge an inch. I am amazed at how long-lasting and truly water-proof it is. However, you can achieve that smouldry eyeliner look if you wish to smudge it but you'd have to be quick at that. Good thing is, it comes with a dual-ended brush applicator to help you achieve both a crisp and smudgy line. Besides, it stays put on my waterline which is terrific.

Though I am satisfied with the quantity, I am not sure if it would last you a long time because the composition is already on the dry side which is why I don't think it's good value for money. Overall, it’s not the best gel eyeliner out there but it's not the worst one either. That being said, the formulation definitely needs some improvement.

    You might like it if…
    • You’re looking for a water-proof  gel eyeliner
    • You expect it to stay put on your waterline
    • It comes with a dual-ended brush to help you achieve two different effects: crisp & smudgy
    • It comes in other shades too
You might not like it if…
    • It’s not easy to apply as the formula is hard to work with
    • You need multiple coats for maximum intensity
    • You think the second coat rubs off the first
    • You don't find it good value for money
